The Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital Women’s Services Birth Center provides labor and delivery medical services for Villa Majella mothers. When a woman has no supportive family or friends, a Villa Majella staff member accompanies her to the hospital and ensures she has access to necessary support through the labor and delivery process.

Villa Majella works with the counselors from New Beginnings Counseling Center to provide one-on-one in-house counseling services to our residents once a week. New Beginnings’ Life Skills Parenting and Education Program comes to Villa Majella each week and facilitates a group class for our women which covers critical hands-on parenting skills, mindfulness strategies, and overall life skills. Through this program our women receive practical tools to establish and maintain stability in their home environments.

Villa Majella encourages clients to take steps towards educational, vocational and professional goals during their time in our program. We encourage our mothers to enroll in Santa Barbara City College’s Single Parents Arriving Ready for College program. SBCC’s Extended Opportunity Programs and Services is a vital Santa Barbara resource. As an educational support program for financially and economically disadvantaged students, it provides a range of support services that enable our mothers to continue their education. Through the SPARC program our mothers receive vital support services including academic advising, tutoring, childcare, and financial support to ensure they achieve academic goals.
